The Jets will open the preseason Aug. 10 or 11 in Cincinnati, the league announced Wednesday. The entire pre-season schedule was released, and it looks like this:
Aug. 10 or 11 -- at Cincinnati
Aug. 16-19 -- Giants
Aug. 26 -- Panthers (Sunday night, NBC)
Aug. 30 -- at Eagles
(Note: All times and some dates remain to be determined for these games.)
Quick thoughts: As the backup QB, Tebow will receive most of his playing time in the first two games. That won't make NBC too happy, because in the third game, QB Mark Sanchez probably will play the first three quarters. That's the way Rex Ryan usually handles his starting QB in the preseason ... The Panthers replace the Giants as the traditional next-to-last game on the pre-season schedule. It has been Jets-Giants in 21 of the last 22 preseasons ... This summer, it's a Jets' home game, which means they get another chance to cover up the Giants' Super Bowl logos outside their locker room ... Even though the starters won't play, the trip to Philadelphia will bring back bad memories. That's where the Jets' 2011 season started to go in the toilet.
The NFL is expected to announce the regular-season schedule the week of April 16. Here are the Jets' opponents:
Home â" Buffalo, Miami, New England, Houston, Indianapolis, San Diego, Arizona, San Francisco
Away â" Buffalo, Miami, New England, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Seattle
