Sorkin makes news
Aaron Sorkin is coming back to TV.The âWest Wingâ creator is taking on cable news with âThe Newsroom,â a behind-the-scenes look at the workings of a 24-hour news channel. The hour-long drama will run on HBO.Jeff Daniels will play an unhinged, Keith Olbermann-type anchor â" Olbermann before he lost his most recent job, we presume â" doing whatever he can to hold on to his audience. The rest of the cast includes Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel and Sam Waterston, with Jane Fonda (playing ex-hubby Ted Turner?) in a recurring role as the CEO of the networkâs parent company.Aaron, who will exec-produce and write the show, is hanging out with the real-life Olbermann and Chris Matthews for his research.Little monsters bannedTough break for all of Lady Gagaâs middle-school fans in South Korea. Authorities there have decided that no one under the age of 18 will be allowed into her show when she launches her world tour in Seoul on April 27.Now the concert promoter has to give refunds for tickets sold to underage fans who were so excited to see the show at Olympic Stadium. This is a new low (or high?) for a show there: The previous minimum age for admittance was 12. No reason was given for the new requirement.Lindsey dating Tebow? If Tim Tebow took up with half of the celebrity women who are reportedly dating him, heâd never have time to play football.First K aty Perry allegedly had the hots for him. Then Taylor Swift fans started dreaming of that hookup. Now Olympic skiier Lindsey Vonn, too? In a recent interview, she laughed off the rumors, especially because sheâs good friends with Timâs brother, Robby.â(Robby) and I were both very surprised that I married (Tim) and had five kids. I didnât know that could happen so fast,â she laughed. âI talk to Robby all the time, and weâre like, âThis is really weird. Just tell Timmy Iâm sorry, and I donât know whatâs going on.âââThatâs so BroadwayRaven-Symone has joined the cast of the hit Broadway musical âSister Actâ as lounge singer-turned-nun Deloris Van Cartier, the role Whoopi Goldberg played in the movie version. In real life, though, sheâs not sure sheâd make a good nun, she tells Entertainment Weekly.âI have a different spiritual base; I donât know if Iâd make a good nun. But I appreciate what they do. You have to appreciate what they do,â she says. âBut I donât know. Theyâd be like, âRaven, shut up.â I really would become a Deloris Van Cartier. I really do believe that I would be that way in the convent, and then Iâd cry at night.ââJerseyâ in France? Oui.How do you say âbad ideaâ in French? Not only is âJersey Shoreâ debuting on French TV, the French now are trying to put together their own version of the show.VIMN network officials wouldnât disclose locations for the French show. âSubcultures exist everywhere, even in France, and the French can certainly party with the rest of them,â VIMN exec Caroline Beaton says.Savage TVâSavage Loveâ columnist Dan Savage debuted his new talk show, âSavage U,â on MTV this week. Each 30-minute episode will be set at a different university where the students will determine the topics heâll talk about. So expect it to be juicy.âWhat âSavage Loveâ has always done is found a happy medium where you mitigate for risks, you do what you can to minimize them, but for personal fulfillment, youâve kind of got to do the things you want to do.â¦â he tells the Associated Press. âThatâs the conversation I wanted to bring to TV about sex, the conversation weâve been having in my column for 20 years about sex: Cognizant of the risks, aware of the dangers but celebrating whatâs so fun and affirming and awesome about it.âWhen Lisa Gutierrez isnât trying to envision Snooki at Paris Fashion Week, sheâs Stargazing among published reports of celebrity news.
