The New York Jets were chastised all offseason long for a media-driven quarterback controversy between Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez.
After Gang Green earned a 48-24 blowout victory over their AFC East rivals, the Buffalo Bills, it seems that Sanchez’s job as the starting signalcaller will go unquestionedâ€"for now.
The former USC Trojans star connected on 19-of-27 pass attempts for a total of 266 yards and three touchdowns, while only turning the ball over once via interception.
Tebow saw his fair share of snaps, rushing the ball five times in the Jets’ unique “Wildcat†package for 11 yards.
Sanchez told Dan Loumena of the Los Angeles Times that he’s a fan of the current system and doesn’t feel pressured to perform.
"I bought in," he said. "Just like everybody on the team. Not just the wildcat, but the feeling of us as a team and a unit. Transcending football, we're a family. We're a tight-knit group."
Considering the strife that marred the Jets locker room in 2011â€"which included WR Santonio Holmes quitting on the team, plenty of players criticizing Sanchez for his skills and work ethic and plenty more reports of turmoil leaking to the pressâ€"there is a surprising sereneness about the squad this season.

Perhaps it took the Jets hitting rock bottom to realize that they need to come together and accept the challenges of an NFL season, rather than whine and complain about them in public.
What we do know for sure is that Sanchez is going to remain the starter as long as he keeps up his solid play. Tebow will continue to be the “Wildcat†quarterback and backup, which is a perfect system and suits this franchise just fine.
Unless some drastic, unforeseen changes take place, or Sanchez suffers a sharp and unexpected decline, the New York Jets have quelled their QB controversy.Â
