New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow will continue to struggle this 2012 preseason and beyond in New York's mediocre offense.
Although Jets fans have been waiting for starting quarterback Mark Sanchez to develop some consistency, they should really be demanding consistency from the New York offense as a whole, which was well below average in 2011, and on the same path to being pitiful this season.Â
Sure, Tebow has been dismal to begin the preseason with the Jets, but he is commanding an offense that ranked 21st and 22nd in passing and rushing yards last season.
At some point the conversation must switch gears from Tebow's inability to pass to the Jets' offensive ineptness.Â
Just take a look at what Sanchez has done under center in two preseason games this summer: 13-for-17, 80 yards and one interception.Â
Tebow has Sanchez beat in yards, while Sanchez has Tebow beat in completions. Nothing to boast about for either quarterback, though.
New York made no notable offseason additions on the offensive side of the ball, and that has been evident by the Jets' play this August.
That being said, Tebow will only continue to struggle and throw incompletions with the Jets until they overhaul their disappointing offense.Â
Will Tebow start at least five games for the Jets in 2012?

No
The same goes for Sanchez, of course.
We must remember that Tebow had the NFL's No. 1 rushing attack to lean on in Denver last season, and that the Broncos didn't need him to drop back into the pocket in order to win games.
Rex Ryan and the Jets have a defensive-minded team in New York, but that doesn't matter if you can't get first downs and score points on offense.
Even the ground attack for the Jets has been problematic this preseason. Tebow led the team in rushing in its preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals, rushing for 34 yards on four carries.Â
That simply won't fly during the regular season. There's no way the Jets will even sniff the playoffs if their backup quarterback is their best rushing threat.
Tebow isn't the only one responsible for his struggles this preseason. Until the New York Jets address their offensive deficiencies, they will be mediocre, and so will their quarterback play.
