Milwaukee Brewers’ reliever John Axford is a colorful guy. I’m sure most of us remember the epic note he left after blowing a save the night his wife was giving birth, ending it by saying cliche, cliches, more cliches. But John Axford took a misstep today (sorta) by comparing two of the biggest social media darlings in a negative tone. John Axford compared New York Jets’ backup quarterback Tim Tebow to Kim Kardashian, and it was not pretty.
Exactly why did he receive backlash again? John Axford is absolutely right in this instance. Heck, me writing this proves why John Axford is right. Why should we care about this, really? And I think the comparison is spot on. Tim Tebow is obviously a better human being than Kim Kardashian, who is only famous because she got plowed by Ray J on video tape. But these two people can’t do anything without it being documented.
I can’t tell you how many times I click on Yahoo! and I see a meaningless Kim Kardashain article. “Kim Kardashian takes a walk in a park wearing a hoodie!†Yes! Breakthrough news Yahoo! The same can be said about Tim Tebow. “Tim Tebow completed passes in practice todayâ€. Cool. I’m glad he can complete drills accordingly.
Bravo to you, John Axford. For being the comical, outgoing personality you are. And I wish you luck on rebounding from your bad season.
