Tim Tebow will end up as a starting quarterback for the New York Jets and will have a tremendous career. Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum are the shackles that are chaining him to the floor right now, though.
When the New York Jets traded for Tim Tebow, comparisons of Steve Young heading to the San Francisco 49ers made the most sense. The biggest issue right now though is that Rex Ryan doesn't know how to develop a quarterback into a star or even a starter.
Mike Tannenbaum is the giant enabler of the terrible head coach. As general manager, he shouldn't allow Ryan to be a walking soundbite and instead should force his coach to actually do what he gets paid to doâ"coach and teach his team.
Instead, Tannenbaum spends his time giving a terrible contract of five years and $58.25 million to a quarterback who doesn't seem to get it with Mark Sanchez. He also has a terrible record of his draft picks making the team. Of his last two drafts, he only has nine of 14 picks still on the roster.

Go back even further and there are even more terrible selections and decisions like the Bart Scott contract or even firing Eric Mangini. However, bringing in Tebow for what he did was a complete steal and the best move he has made as a general manager.
Onto Tebow himself. The Florida graduate is arguably the best fit long term for the Jets team and a new image it will need. Despite Rex Ryan wanting his team to be a complete circus, Tebow is the leader and positive role model needed as a starting quarterback.
The plan to turn Tebow into a top passer
Fire the ring leader of the circus, Rex Ryan. No one needs the attitude that he has instilled into the team. It's one of entitlement and arrogance and has led to the team to lack the heart needed to succeed.Â
In addition to Ryan, it would make sense to have someone who is more of a scout and can pick talent that can be developed in the draft over the fringe NFL players they have wound up with.

Hiring someone like Eric DeCosta of the Ravens for general manager and then bringing in Marty Mornhinweg to bring in the same offense that helped Michael Vick become a good quarterback seems like the proper thing to do.
The new GM would see the holes on the roster both in character and in talent and would build a team based around Tebow. It could lead to finding a new left tackle and sliding Ferguson to the right side.
Trading Mark Sanchez and giving the team to Tebow makes a ton of sense in a house cleaning.Â
He has talent at running back in Shonn Greene and Joe McKnight and at receiver in Stephen Hill, Santonio Holmes and Chaz Schilens. Adding more wouldn't hurt, but having a coach who can actually design the offense to the team and not the team to his offense would be the smartest thing they could do.
Unfortunately the Jets have to hold off until after this year proves to be another terrible one to make the switch. But once they do, bringing in a new GM and coach and letting Tebow take over the starting spot is the best thing for the long term welfare of the team.
