Tim Tebow saying something controversial? Crazy, right? Well it happened, and at the expense of an old teammate (Brady Quinn) and one of the most storied college football programs in the country (Notre Dame).
Speaking to a pro-Gator crowd at an event in Winter Park, Florida, the Jets QB/HB/special-teamer decided to stop being polite and start being real (thanks to MTV's "Real World" for that line).
Que Tim Tebow:
I had a teammate at Denver who played the same position as me and he went to the University of Notre Dame. He would brag about his university, how great it was. Most of us in the locker room were like, 'C'mon, we all had opportunities. We chose not to go there.' ⦠But he talked so much about his university that it became easy. I'd say, 'Your whole team had one guy who ran under a 5.0 40 [yard dash]. Our kicker ran under 5.0.
It's obvious to everyone that he was taking about Quinn, who took his own shot at Tebow a months ago in a GQ article.
The quotes were published by Gator Zone on Monday, although the story has since disappeared from the site.
Why? Nobody knows.
Chalk another one up to the power of Tim Tebow, perhaps?
