Tebow Denies Plan to Move to Northport

Tim Tebow publicly denied rumors that he is moving to Northport during a press conference at the New York Jets mini-camp practice session earlier this month, according to a transcript published on SB Nation. "I can deny (that). I have never been there," the quarterback told reporters. "It is just another one of those rumors like, 'I am living in Hoboken.'"  Rumors began that Tebow was eying property in downtown Northport after he was reportedly seen enjoying tacos at The Whales Tale on June 5.

Trump and State Strike Deal on Jones Beach Facility

Real estate developer Donald Trump and New York State announced Friday that an agreement has been reached for a long-stalled restaurant and catering facility at Jones Beach in Wantagh. Under the terms of the agreement, Trump on the Ocean LLC will build and operate a facility with a foot-print of 38,560 square feet at the former site of the Boardwalk Café, which closed in 2003. Trump on the Ocean will include a public restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating accommodating more than 400 people, and catering areas that can accommodate up to 1,250 guests, according to officials for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) .

Zipcar Launches in the Hamptons

The 12-year-old Zipcar car rental company that started in Massachusetts has taken a leap, launching in the Hamptons this summer. According to Jessica Margolis-Pineo, the public relations director for Zipcar, Zipcars are now available in several locations across the Hamptons.

Levittown Proposes New Elementary Report Card

In an effort to improve the elementary school student evaluation process, the Levittown Union Free School District administration introduced a new report card proposal during Wednesday night’s Special Board of Education Meeting at the Memorial Education Center. 

Under the new plan, elementary school report cards would be broken up into three marking periods, instead of four. The system, which has been developed for grades two through five, is based on the new Common Core Standards, according to Levittown Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Debbie Rifkin.

School Union Rallies Against Shift Changes

Union members of West Islip School District's custodial staff came rallied in front of West Islip High School Monday to protest "wholesale changes of workers' hours and shifts made by the district without notice."

The changes are "playing havoc on people’s lives" said Kevin Boyle Jr., president of the United Public Service Employees Union. According to Boyle, 22 to 23 custodians are being moved from day shifts to night and night shifts to day.
