D'Brickashaw Ferguson has Mark Sanchez's back, literally and figuratively.
The New York Jets Pro Bowl left tackle professes great confidence in the quarterback he's protected for the past three seasons but also affirms that the team has embraced backup QB Tim Tebow despite initial surprise at the club's decision to acquire him.
"I think everyone was taken aback at first," Ferguson told WFAN about the March trade for Tebow. "Like wow, nobody knew what to expect. But I met with the man, and he's got a good head on his shoulders, and he's real passionate.
"It's going to make a lot of other teams really have to second guess what we'll be doing because we have the advantage of having great quarterbacks, and now we have the opportunity to do what we want with what we have."

Ferguson said any perception of "conflict" borne from having two starting-caliber signal callers is a product of outside observers, not the Jets locker room.
"I think right now we are in a good place," he said of a team that was decidedly in a bad place after a season-ending meltdown left it at 8-8 and outside the playoff picture. He and his mates are now hoping the unique traits Tebow can add to the offense will spur New York back to contending status.
"We still have an opportunity to kind of grow and really decide how we are going to attack future teams."
But it sounds like he fully expects Sanchez to be the man primarily doing that, the same party line the Jets have toed since adding Tebow.
"I think Mark is a great leader. I follow Mark," said Ferguson. "Any guy who can play that quarterback role has to be strong, and I think he demonstrates a lot of great qualities."
