When this trend of celebrities agreeing to go to proms or military balls began we all knew there would have to be a limit at some point. I mean, how often can Mila Kunis be expected to give up an evening to make a soldier happy?
So it was that Tim Tebow understandably never responded to a prom date invitation from Rachel Bird, a senior at Kingsley-Pierson High in Iowa. But that didnât stop Bird.
After originally planning to attend her prom as a tag-along with other friends who had dates she decided going stag wouldnât feel right. So she paid $20 to have a photo of Tebow blown up to life-size, and then she and her father glued it to cardboard.
Bingo! The cutout of Tebow became her date, and the cardboard version of the quarterback proved nearly as popular as the real thing.
âI think more people took their picture with Tim than they did with me,â Bird told the Des Moines Register. âIt was so much fun. I donât regret it at all.â
But the relationship doesnât end there. Bird told the Register the next stop for her Tebow will be her dorm room when she enrolls at Northwestern College in Orange City next fall.
