Tebow Denies Plan to Move to Northport - Patch.com

Some of the news around Long Island in the last week.

Tebow Denies Plan to Move to Northport

Tim Tebow publicly denied rumors that he is moving to Northport during a press conference at the New York Jets mini-camp practice session earlier this month, according to a transcript published on SB Nation. "I can deny (that). I have never been there," the quarterback told reporters. "It is just another one of those rumors like, 'I am living in Hoboken.'"  Rumors began that Tebow was eying property in downtown Northport after he was reportedly seen enjoying tacos at The Whales Tale on June 5.

Trump and State Strike Deal on Jones Beach Facility

Real estate developer Donald Trump and New York State announced Friday that an agreement has been reached for a long-stalled restaurant and catering facility at Jones Beach in Wantagh. Under the terms of the agreement, Trump on the Ocean LLC will build and operate a facility with a foot-print of 38,560 square feet at the former site of the Boardwalk Café, which closed in 2003. Trump on the Ocean will include a public restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating accommodating more than 400 people, and catering areas that can accommodate up to 1,250 guests, according to officials for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) .

Levittown Proposes New Elementary Report Card

In an effort to improve the elementary school student evaluation process, the Levittown Union Free School District administration introduced a new report card proposal during Wednesday night’s Special Board of Education Meeting at the Memorial Education Center.

Under the new plan, elementary school report cards would be broken up into three marking periods, instead of four. The system, which has been developed for grades two through five, is based on the new Common Core Standards, according to Levittown Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Debbie Rifkin.

School Union Rallies Against Shift Changes

Union members of West Islip School District's custodial staff came rallied in front of West Islip High School Monday to protest "wholesale changes of workers' hours and shifts made by the district without notice."

The changes are "playing havoc on people’s lives" said Kevin Boyle Jr., president of the United Public Service Employees Union. According to Boyle, 22 to 23 custodians are being moved from day shifts to night and night shifts to day.

Jim Kelly wants Jets QB chaos - ESPN (blog)

video

Former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly appeared on the NFL Network on Thursday and discussed the Jets' quarterback situation. As a former starter, Kelly said he wouldn't feel good if his team brought in backup like Tim Tebow, saying "the job security is a little shaky."

"As a Buffalo Bills fan, I hope there's so much turmoil during training camp, I hope Tebow plays great, he pushes (Mark) Sanchez, and all of a sudden the locker room is coming apart," Kelly said.

Kelly said there is a good deal of pressure now on Sanchez to play well from the jump, a concern that plenty of NFL pundits -- even those who aren't in the Hall of Fame -- have articulated ever since the Jets acquired the former Broncos starter.

"Mark Sanchez is a quarterback now that is going to be sitting there every single game if he plays bad -- number one, you know Jets fans, they’re going to start booing," Kelly said. "A lot of pressure is on Sanchez to not only start off hot, but continue game after game after game playing steady. If he doesn’t, you know you're going to hear the boo birds, you're going to have people wanting Tim Tebow in there."

It's no secret that Sanchez can get down on himself in games, and the Jets even had to address this by giving the starter pointers on body language. At one point he was even fined if he dropped his shoulders in that hang-dog posture during practice.

Kelly also questioned the Jets' decision to bring in Tebow, and handed Sanchez a vote of confidence.

"I thought Sanchez is a very good quarterback coming on," Kelly said. "If I was a general manager or a president or the owner of a team, I would not have done that unless I would have gotten rid of Sanchez. But he's a good enough quarterback to be there and Tim Tebow is a great athlete. He's going to be a big plus for somebody, but in New York I'm not sure."

Can Tim Tebow pick up the slack in the Jets' backfield? (Getty Images) - SI.com

Can Tim Tebow pick up the slack in the Jets’ backfield? (Getty Images)

With NFL training camps just around the corner, we’re taking a team-by-team look at how the offseason played out and what you can expect in 2012. Click here to read them all.

Even when outnumbered by healthy cells, cancer finds a way to grow. Such was the case of the 2011 Jets.

Rex Ryan’s crew entered last season with high expectations, coming off consecutive AFC title game appearances. But something happened along the way to taking that next step. Long-simmering skepticism about Mark Sanchez’s ability and ceiling came to a boil within Sanchez’s own offensive huddle, thanks to a pouty receiver group led by Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burress (Derrick Mason added to the drama early, but the team was smart enough to trade him after just five games of discontent; unfortunately they couldn’t trade the top half of the receiver depth chart all at once). That led to dysfunction in the passing game, which caused more doubt, within the team and outside of it, about Sanchez and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

Pair that with an ineffective ground game, and a defense that was still very good, albeit a step back from its dominant past self, and it’s easy to see how the Jets ended up at 8-8. Gone are Burress and Schottenheimer, along with Rex Ryan’s bravado (supposedly), but will the 2012 Jets be any better, or harmonious, this year?

2011 Record: 8-8 (second in AFC East)
Key Additions: QB Tim Tebow, WR Chaz Schilens, S LaRon Landry, S Yeremiah Bell, DL Quinton Coples, WR Stephen Hill, LB Demario Davis
Key Subtractions: RB LaDainian Tomlinson
Team Strengths:
DL, CB
Team Weaknesses:
RT, WR, RB, LB

Three Things to Watch:

1. What impact will Tim Tebow’s addition have on Mark Sanchez?: Include me in the camp that believes that Sanchez is not as bad as 2011 made him seem. He had a lot working against him last year â€" the aforementioned diva receivers, an offensive line that wasn’t great (particularly when Nick Mangold was injured) and a run game that offered little support. He also entered last year without two underrated players in the passing game, receivers Jerricho Cotchery and Brad Smith, the latter of whom added another dimension to the offense with his Wildcat skills.

While the team helped Sanchez on that front this year by jettisoning Burress, Holmes inexplicably remains, with no upgrades to the run game or line. And now there’s a whole new problem for Sanchez to worry about in Tim Tebow.

The Jets’ coaches, and Sanchez and Tebow themselves, have said all the right things about the headline-grabbing move. But make no mistake: the Jets brought Tebow in to push Sanchez, Tebow wants to push Sanchez and Sanchez is feeling the heat. And the first time Sanchez one-hops a ball to a receiver at home, or throws a dumb pick, the Jets’ crowd will ratchet that heat up a few degrees.

Some quarterbacks â€" and people â€" thrive under pressure. So far in his still young career, Sanchez has proven he’s not one of those quarterbacks. Some have blamed the Jets for that, saying they’ve coddled Sanchez publicly and privately, withholding the tough part of tough love that pushes players to improve. Maybe acquiring Tebow was the first step in the Jets changing that, hoping that the challenge will light a fire under Sanchez and teach him how to play with a bit of grit. We’ll see if it works.

2. Back to ground-and-pound?: In 2009 and 2010, the Jets made those consecutive AFC championship games on the back of an old, trusty formula: pair a great run game with a great defense, and don’t make too many mistakes in the passing game. In 2009, the team got 2,480 yards from its top four rushers. In 2010, that number was 2,168, still respectable. Last year, it plummeted to 1,571, with Sanchez replacing Smith as the team’s fourth-leading rusher. That, obviously, is not a recipe for success.

But Tony Sparano, a maestro with the run game and a Wildcat aficionado, was brought in to replace Schottenheimer at coordinator, and the company line is a rededication to the ground-and-pound. But what does he have to work with?

LaDainian Tomlinson is gone, leaving Shonn Greene, Joe McKnight and to a lesser extent Bilal Powell to carry the load in the backfield. Greene had a career year last season, but he was still far from impressive, and doesn’t show what it takes in most aspects of the game to warrant a spot atop a depth chart. McKnight is a valuable rotation guy, and Powell is underwhelming. Neither is going to suddenly turn the Jets’ ground game around. The team may be counting on Tebow to replace Tomlinson’s lost production and what they lacked in losing Smith before last year.

That’s a lot to ask of Tebow, though Sparano will undoubtedly be creative in how he uses him. Especially with rookie receiver Stephen Hill (who excelled in an option offense in college, just like Tebow) in the fold, there are a lot of ways to disguise how the Jets utilize Tebow’s ability. But counting on him to contribute 700-1,000 yards might be a bit much (especially with the turnstile that is Wayne Hunter returning at RT), and the Jets may need that if they want their run game to be a threat again.

3. How will the linebackers fare?: Like at running back, the Jets needed change at linebacker, and didn’t get much.

On the outside, the Jets managed 35 sacks last year, 17th in the league, and ahead of only five teams that predominantly used a 3-4. Their starters at OLB, Bryan Thomas and Calvin Pace, combined for just 4.5 of those (Thomas, actually, had none at all), with former bust and sub pass-rusher Aaron Maybin leading the team with six. That won’t do, but the team didn’t add any pass rushing prowess at that position in the offseason. It’ll again be Thomas and Pace, with Maybin getting sizable snaps as well. First-round pick Quinton Coples will take a break from his typical end duties to stand up on some passing downs, but it remains to be seen how effective he can be playing at an unnatural position, especially for a guy who had questions about his work ethic coming into the draft.

Inside has a slightly better outlook. David Harris is a bonafide thumper, but other starter Bart Scott’s days are numbered, with effectiveness dwindling quickly for the soon-to-be 32-year-old. Still, Ryan and others have raved about Scott’s work so far in camp. The addition of Demario Davis in the draft’s third round will help a lot, as well. Davis is a solid tackler with strong instincts and the ability to make plays on the ball quickly, and he should contribute immediately.

Then there’s the plan to use more four-man fronts this year, something the team has very rarely done in the past. So far, that’s meant Maybin and Pace lining up at end, with Coples and Muhammad Wilkerson playing inside. Doing that puts less pressure on the linebackers to get to the quarterback and takes Scott off the field, with Davis and Thomas flanking Harris. Given the Jets’ personnel, shifting almost fully to a 4-3 might be the wisest move; if Maybin can handle the burden of squaring off against offensive tackles from a three-point stance, it gives the team a more dynamic front while limiting the deficiencies at linebacker.

Outlook: The Jets should be less of a newsy team, with Ryan vowing to rein in his bravado. But two troublesome spots, chemistry wise, still exist in Holmes and the ever-present threat of Tebow hovering over Sanchez’s shoulder. Let’s take the best case scenario and say that the dysfunction is mostly curbed this year; Holmes isn’t the quitter he was last year and Sanchez responds positively to Tebow’s presence.

On paper, this is still a team that is nowhere near as good as its rival from New England and, worse, the Jets appear to have been surpassed by the Bills. It’ll be a battle with Buffalo for second place in the AFC East to start the season, but expect the Bills to pull away and the Jets to again be relegated to somewhere around .500.

Kelly: I hope Tebow causes 'turmoil' - FOXSports.com

Updated Jun 29, 2012 5:51 PM ET

Legendary Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly does not understand why the Jets brought in Tim Tebow, but he's glad they did.

tim tebow

TEBOW IN ACTION

Take a look at Tim Tebow's work on the field during his big 2011 season.

Kelly, who starred in Buffalo from 1986-1996, said he is wishing for "so much turmoil in training camp" that all of a sudden the Jets' locker room "is coming apart."

"They open with the Buffalo Bills first game of the season in the Meadowlands (MetLife Stadium), so this could be very exciting," Kelly said on NFL Network's "NFL Total Access" Thursday night.

The Hall of Fame signal caller, who took the Bills to four straight Super Bowls â€" all losses â€" said he would not be happy if he were Mark Sanchez and the Jets brought in Tebow.

"Number one, it wouldn't make me feel very good," Kelly said. "The job security is a little shaky. Really to be honest with you, I don't know what they really were thinking.

"A lot of pressure is on Sanchez to not only start off hot, but continue game after game after game playing steady. If he doesn't, you know you're going to hear the boo birds, you're going to have people wanting Tim Tebow in there.

"Me, if I was a general manager or a president or the owner of a team, I would not have done that unless I would have gotten rid of Sanchez."

Kelly does think it is Sanchez's job to lose, though.

"He is the starting quarterback," Kelly said. "This is Sanchez's team and, barring injuries, hopefully he'll be the quarterback for the near-future. But if he goes down, they're going to have to do something else with the offense."

Backup QB plans: Tim Tebow gives Jets most intriguing No. 2 in NFL - SportingNews.com

Published Friday, Jun 29, 2012 at 11:58 am EDT Last updated 16 minutes and 52 seconds ago

Tim Tebow, in his first year with the New York Jets, is back to being who he was last summer with the Denver Broncos: The most popular backup quarterback in the NFL.

Tebow is the highest-profile of eight first-round draft picks projected at No. 2 on their teams' depth charts going into 2012 season. He also is the only such quarterback who led his team to a playoff victory in '11.

Jake Locker clearly is the Titans' starter-in-waiting. How long he has to wait is up to Matt Hasselbeck. (AP Photo)

With his new team, Tebow initially was tabbed for a part-time role as both a "Wildcat" option on offense and an upback on special teams. But given Tebow's recent winning credentials, there's reason for starter Mark Sanchez to sneak a peek over his shoulder.

As for the Broncos without Tebow, they now have the least well-known backup QB in the league behind perhaps the most well-known starter, Peyton Manning.

Hopeful to start

Tim Tebow, New York Jets. Although Tebow's pure passing skills aren't at Sanchez's level, his work ethic and competitive drive will keep him ready and willing to relieve if the Jets' No. 1 struggles through a turnover-plagued start.

Chad Henne, Jacksonville Jaguars. The former promising starter in Miami stays in Florida and steps into a favorable situation behind second-year player Blaine Gabbert. If Gabbert shows he doesn't have it early in a new offense, the Jags shouldn't hesitate to give Henneâ€"who turns only 27 next weekâ€"a good second shot.

Matt Flynn, Seattle Seahawks. The former Packers backup was signed to a three-year, $19 million contract, but so far that hasn't guaranteed he will start over incumbent Tarvaris Jackson come Week 1. That could change quickly with a strong training camp.

Jake Locker, Tennessee Titans. A first-rounder in '11, Locker clearly is the team's starter-in-waiting. How long he waits depends on how much scrappy vet Matt Hasselbeck has left in the tank to keep the Titans playoff-competitive.

John Skelton, Arizona Cardinals. The Cards need a long look to see what they have in Kolb, considering they gave the former Eagles backup a six-year, $65 million contract last year. If he falters or succumbs to injury, Skelton will try to provide more of a sparkâ€"while Arizona starts scouting for its franchise QB in the '13 draft.

Thankful for a chance

Vince Young, Buffalo Bills. After showing he had some backup makeup as Michael Vick's understudy in Philadelphia, Young gets a crack behind Ryan Fitzpatrick. Although Young needs a better grasp of the offense, he still should hold off Tyler Thigpen.

Jason Campbell, Chicago Bears. Once Jay Cutler was lost with a thumb injury late last season, the Bears' playoff chances were lostâ€"they went 1-5 with the Caleb Hanie-Josh McCown combination starting their final six games. Campbell is a major upgrade as a short-term fill-in.

Matt Leinart, Oakland Raiders. Leinart steps into a USC reunion with Carson Palmer, but his only chance of seeing the field ahead of his fellow Trojans Heisman Trophy winner would be injury. Leinart didn't last long subbing for Matt Schaub in Houston last year, suffering a broken collarbone in his first and only start.

Brady Quinn, Kansas City Chiefs. It's a critical year for Matt Cassel to hold the starting job, and if he can't, then it may be Quinn's last opportunity to prove he has a place in the NFL.

Rex Grossman, Washington Redskins. Grossman re-signed before the team drafted Robert Griffin III, and even though he has the same initials, it's a completely different feel from '11, when he was seen as the default better option over John Beck. Don't be surprised if RG3's fellow rookie, Kirk Cousins, sneaks up to No. 2 at some point.

Mindful of their roles

Kyle Orton, Dallas Cowboys. Orton has had shades of starting success, both statistically and winning-wise in his career with the Bears, Broncos and Chiefs. His combination of talent and experience, however, suits him better as a No. 2, and he's a solid one replacing retired Jon Kitna behind Tony Romo.

Byron Leftwich, Pittsburgh Steelers. Whether it's been Leftwich, Charlie Batch or even Dennis Dixon, it's been a credit to the Steelers' offensive coaches that they have been well prepared when Ben Roethlisberger can’t play. A former Jaguars first-rounder, Leftwich has carved out a good niche behind fellow MAC product Big Ben.

Seneca Wallace, Cleveland Browns. As rookie Brandon Weeden is projected to start, Colt McCoy is expected to be the odd man out. Having Wallace instead of McCoy, Weeden would know he has a savvy player from whom he can learn in the Browns' offense without worrying about losing his job.

Shaun Hill, Detroit Lions. The Lions should hope injury issues are a thing of the past for their bright young starter, Matt Stafford. But if Stafford has to miss time again, they should be thrilled that Hill remains in the mix to play a game or two.

David Garrard, Miami Dolphins. While it's a good bet Matt Moore holds off Ryan Tannehill and Garrard for the starting job to begin the season, in that scenario, it would make sense to make the experienced Garrard No. 2 over the green Tannehill. That is, at least until the Dolphins fall out of contention by midseason and decide to roll with Tannehill.

Chris Redman, Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons know exactly what they'll get from Redman if Matt Ryan needs to be spelledâ€"a similar steady hand who simply will execute the offense and minimize mistakes.

Derek Anderson, Carolina Panthers. Anderson's best days in the NFL came while working with offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski in Cleveland, making him a solid choice to return as Cam Newton's best backup.

Kellen Clemens, St. Louis Rams. Clemens' greatest asset behind Sam Braford is the fact he had five years of experience playing for first-year Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schotteneimer while Clemens and Schottenheimer were with the Jets.

Dan Orlovsky, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Orlovsky joins tight end Dallas Clark in coming over from the Colts' passing game. Josh Freeman needed a new backup, and Orlovsky earned it with the five-game spark he provided to keep Indianapolis from going winless in '11.

Charlie Whitehurst, San Diego Chargers. Whitehurst rejoins the team that originally drafted him in '06 after two seasons and four starts for the Seahawks. He provides about the same backup material Billy Volek did behind Philip Rivers.

Pocketful of potential

T.J. Yates, Houston Texans. Yates was thrown into the fire as injuries befell the Texans' quarterbacks, and he responded surprisingly well in helping the team get to the divisional playoffs. Schaub is on track to be back healthy as the No. 1, but Houston should be pleased with the good seasoning Yates got as a rookie.

Bruce Gradkowski, Cincinnati Bengals. The gritty Gradkowski has a good skill set for the West Coast offense and works well as a complement to fine second-year starter Andy Dalton. The Pittsburgh native and Toledo product also was built to play in the AFC North.

Tyrod Taylor, Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens love this second-year player, who continues to develop his passing skills to better match his athleticism and intangibles. Although at 6-1, Taylor is five inches shorter than durable Joe Flacco, Baltimore has no problems if Taylor needs to sub for Flacco for a bit in '12.

Drew Stanton, Indianapolis Colts. Stanton spent one week as Sanchez's backup before the Jets traded for Tebow and then traded Stanton to the Colts. In Indianapolis, the former Detroit Lions No. 3 has an important job sitting behind first overall pick Andrew Luck.

Joe Webb, Minnesota Vikings. Webb won't have a chance to unseat second-year first-rounder Christian Ponder, but because Webb will become a free agent in 2014, the 6-4, 220-pounder has a couple of seasons to show he's worth a flyer elsewhere.

Josh Johnson, San Francisco 49ers. Johnson (6-3, 205 pounds) had been a nice young backup for Freeman in Tampa. Reunited with former University of San Diego coach Jim Habaugh in San Francisco, Johnson gives the Niners a much more experienced insurance policy for Alex Smith. Johnson's presence also buys '11 second-rounder Colin Kaepernick more time to develop.

Respectful of their place

David Carr, New York Giants. The '02 first overall pick just got a Super Bowl ring as the No. 2 to the 2004 first overall pick, Eli Manning. Even though Manning gets dinged often, he's been the most durable quarterback in the league with 119 consecutive starts since his rookie season. Carr obviously got plenty banged up during his time in Houston.

Brian Hoyer, New England Patriots. Having learned well behind Tom Brady, Hoyer will get his chance to see if he's starter material elsewhere as an unrestricted free agent in 2013. In '12, he'll stay right behind Brady as the team keeps working to develop Ryan Mallett to be the new No. 2.

Chase Daniel, New Orleans Saints. Daniel is recovering from a thumb injury, and his recovery before camp is important as long as the team’s contract stalemate with Drew Brees continues. Daniel is much like Brees in that he's smart, undersized (6-0, 225 pounds) and has a background in the spread offense (Missouri).

Graham Harrell, Green Bay Packers. With Flynn cashing in to join the Seahawks, Harrell slides up to be Aaron Rodgers' top reserve. Like Daniel, Harrell (Texas Tech) played in a high-paced passing game in college, and that suits him well to absorb great knowledge under Rodgers and coach Mike McCarthy.

Mike Kafka, Philadelphia Eagles. Kafka completed 11 of 16 passes in relief as a rookie last season, but they added up to only 107 yards and included two interceptions. With Young gone, Kafka's ahead of Trent Edwards in showing that he's the best option behind often-banged-up 32-year-old Michael Vick.

Adam Weber, Denver Broncos. There's a big dropoff for the Broncos if Peyton Manning can't stay on the field after an entire season lost to his neck injury. Weber, who connected well with wide receiver Eric Decker while at the University of Minnesota, so far has the edge in the offense over Hanie and rookie project Brock Osweiler. Denver had better hope Manning goes back to being his old durable, highly productive self.

NFL shifting start time of 2nd game - ESPN

Updated: June 28, 2012, 12:17 PM ET

Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Tim Tebow was leading the Broncos on yet another improbable last-minute comeback, and fans in New York, Dallas and other football-mad markets didn't get to see the end.

The NFL announced a scheduling change Thursday aimed at preventing such moments. The league is shifting the start time of the second game of its Sunday TV doubleheaders by 10 minutes to ensure fewer fans miss any of the action on the field.

The late afternoon matchups on CBS and Fox will kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET instead of 4:15. Late games not on that week's doubleheader network will still start at 4:05.

Because of the networks' contractual obligations, fans in the past would sometimes miss the end of the early telecast or the beginning of the late one if the 1 p.m. game ran long. The broadcasters must switch to the start of the second game in the home teams' cities even if the day's first televised contest is still going on. For fans in other markets, that overlap means they don't get to see the opening of the late game.

During the 2009-11 seasons, 44 games lasted long enough to require part of the audience to be switched. Under the 4:25 kickoff, that number would have been reduced to 15.

On Dec. 4, Denver beat the Minnesota Vikings on a field goal as time expired on Fox, the Broncos' fifth straight win as Tebow-mania swept the country. The game ended at 4:19 p.m. ET, so hometown fans of the Packers, Giants, Cowboys, Cardinals, Rams and 49ers -- whose teams played in the 4:15 game -- missed the final seconds.

With Peyton Manning aboard, Broncos receivers actually have to learn routes now - Yahoo! Sports (blog)

Getty ImagesDemaryius Thomas has been a wide receiver in the NFL for two years now, and evidently hasn't spent a lot of time learning to run routes. I guess it's not all that necessary when you're watching for Kyle Orton or Tim Tebow to deliver you the football.

Via Sports Radio Interviews, Thomas told 790 The Zone in Atlanta that now that Peyton Manning is in town, the Denver receivers are going to have to bone up on their route tree a little bit.

"To get to play with a future Hall of Famer, I knew I had to step my game up and get in my book more, run routes more, because I never really ran routes much. So I thought it was gonna be a challenge, and it has been so far. But it's been good, too."

"You're gonna have to run the whole route tree now. The comebacks, the slants, the posts, the ins. And I didn't have to do that much when I was my first couple of years in the league."

Wow. Two years in the league, and he "never really ran routes much"?

What were Broncos practices like before Peyton Manning? Everyone splits into their individual groups, and the receivers all run over to the receivers coach and ask, "Hey coach, what are we working on today?" And then the receivers coach looks over and sees Tim Tebow launching footballs into the fourth row and says, "I really don't think it matters, boys."

No more of that with Peyton Manning, though. It makes me wonder about Manning's 2012, and whether he'll be close to the same quarterback he was in Indianapolis. Even putting aside the doubts about his neck and his ability to take a hit, there are a lot of question marks there. He had such good rapport with the receivers in Indy throughout his career, and now it's like he's starting from scratch.

Thomas is probably the most physically talented receiver on the Denver roster, so getting his routes precise will be important. Manning's going to have to have a lot of patience with his young receivers.

Tim Tebow and Tom Brady are most desired by married woman, says ridiculous survey - Yahoo! Sports (blog)

Getty ImagesThe wholesome folks at AshleyMadison.com, the site that wants you to cheat on your significant other, polled over 13,500 women on which famous athlete women would most like to cheat on their husbands with.

On the top of the list was dashing soccer guy David Beckham. Among NFL players, Tim Tebow and Tom Brady were the tops, with Tebow holding a slight lead. Both were significantly behind Beckham, though. The NFL put four athletes in the top ten, ahead of any other sport. Hooray, NFL.

You might recall a similar survey by the same folks before the Super Bowl, which actually found that married women would rather have an affair with Eli Manning than Tom Brady. This one flips that, though, with Brady being identified by 17.9 percent of respondents, and Eli with just 8.5 percent. It must be the continuing evolution of Tom Brady's hair.

No NFL'er topped Tebow, though. I'm not sure if it was his rugged good looks, his choir boy persona, or the forbidden fruit factor, given Tebow's super-religious stance on women and dating. Whatever it is, it's working for him, even if he won't cash in on it.

If this feels like it's not the first time AshleyMadison.com put their name alongside Tebow's in headlines, it's not. Back in April, they offered $1 million to anyone who could step forward and say they've had relations with Tebow. Evidently, no one has.

Click below to see the complete top ten, which includes two more quarterbacks.

1. David Beckham, 43.1 percent
2. Tim Tebow, 19.6 percent
3. Tom Brady, 17.9 percent
4. Derek Jeter, 16.5 percent
5. Alex Rodriguez, 13.2 percent
6. Cristiano Ronaldo, 11 percent
7. Michael Phelps, 10.5 percent
8. Peyton Manning, 9.6 percent
9. Aaron Rodgers, 9.5 percent
10. Kelly Slater, 9.2 percent

Peyton Manning. Really, ladies?

Other NFL'ers near the top ten were Eli Manning with 8.5 percent and Mark Sanchez with 8.1 percent. Brett Keisel did not make the list.

Women would cheat on spouse with Tim Tebow, new poll shows - MyFox Washington DC

NEW YORK -

He may be a virgin, but women would really like to score with Tim Tebow.

According to a new survey released by AshleyMadison.com, the Jets backup quarterback ranked second on a list of athletes women would most likely cheat on their husband with.

The ultra-religious Tebow, who has admitted he is waiting for marriage before having sex, finished second on the list, with 19.6 percent of women saying they would have an affair with the former Heisman Trophy winner.

English soccer star David Beckham, 37, was the most-desired athlete, with 43.1 percent of women saying they would want to bend it with Beckham. New England quarterback Tom Brady, 34, finished third on the list with 17.9 percent.

Tebow, 24, was not the only New York-area athlete women would have an extra-marital fling with.

Yankees stars Derek Jeter (16.5 percent) and Alex Rodriguez (13.2 percent) as well as Giants quarterback Eli Manning (8.5 percent) also made the list.

Starting Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, who has been linked to Kate Upton in the past, finished well behind his backup, with only 8.1 percent of women saying they would cheat on their husband with him.

Other highlights from the list included Nets star Kris Humphries (3.3 percent) finishing fifth among NBA players and Tiger Woods (6.1 percent) finishing 15th overall.

Over 13,500 women participated in the survey.

Tebow vs. Manning debate in Colorado split along party lines - USA TODAY

A polling agency hit up Coloradans to get their take on some hot-button issues, so naturally they talked Tebow.

Specifically, state residents were asked, "Who would you rather have as the Broncos quarterback: Peyton Manning or Tim Tebow?"

The vote predictably went the way of the Broncos quarterback and former NFL MVP, with 53% of respondents choosing Manning, 21% choosing Tebow and 25% saying they were unsure.

Tebow, now a New York Jet, won the vote among Coloradans who identified as "very conservative" by a whopping margin, with 53% siding with Tebow and just 28% for Manning. Democrats voted for Manning 61% of the time vs. 13% for Tebow, while 45% of Republicans chose Manning vs. 35% for Tebow.

Manning, 36, has won four league MVP awards and is coming of multiple neck surgeries. Tebow, 24, completed 46% of his passes last season yet led the Broncos to a playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn are sniping at each other - Yahoo! Sports (blog)

Getty ImagesPerhaps only Tim Tebow, the man for whom everything is magnified by a billion, could be the genesis of a media fight between two backup quarterbacks. Tebow, clipboard holder for the great Mark Sanchez, and Brady Quinn, clipboard holder for the great Matt Cassel, are swinging their clipboards at one another.

Quinn struck first, as you might recall this quote from a February GQ piece by the great Mike Silver.

"If you look at it as a whole, there's a lot of things that just don't seem very humble to me. When I get that opportunity, I'll continue to lead not necessarily by trying to get in front of the camera and praying but by praying with my teammates, you know?"

Tebow, speaking recently at a function for boosters of the Florida Gators, took a swipe back at Quinn.

"I had a teammate at Denver who played the same position as me and he went to the University of Notre Dame. He would brag about his university, how great it was. Most of us in the locker room were like, 'C'mon, we all had opportunities. We chose not to go there.' ... But he talked so much about his university that it became easy. I'd say, 'Your whole team had one guy who ran under a 5.0 40 [yard dash]. Our kicker ran under 5.0.'"

Interestingly â€' fine, somewhat interestingly â€' GatorZone, the site where the quote originally appeared, has taken it down. Why it did so, it isn't saying, but it was a little out of character for Tebow, who usually just thanks Jesus and sticks to the tried and true media clichés.

If Tebow was indeed worried that the quote would get out, I wish he wouldn't be. It was a minor shot at Notre Dame at a college football function, and everyone in college football makes fun of Notre Dame. It's weird to not make fun of Notre Dame, especially in the face of someone like Brady Quinn, who for some reason still believes there's something special about Notre Dame.

Quinn and Tebow will just have to settle this on the field. In some year when the Jets and Chiefs play each other. And they've both improved to the point where they might actually play.

Tim Tebow disses Brady Quinn, Notre Dame at function - USA TODAY

Tim Tebow saying something controversial? Crazy, right? Well it happened, and at the expense of an old teammate (Brady Quinn) and one of the most storied college football programs in the country (Notre Dame).

Speaking to a pro-Gator crowd at an event in Winter Park, Florida, the Jets QB/HB/special-teamer decided to stop being polite and start being real (thanks to MTV's "Real World" for that line).

Que Tim Tebow:

I had a teammate at Denver who played the same position as me and he went to the University of Notre Dame. He would brag about his university, how great it was. Most of us in the locker room were like, 'C'mon, we all had opportunities. We chose not to go there.' … But he talked so much about his university that it became easy. I'd say, 'Your whole team had one guy who ran under a 5.0 40 [yard dash]. Our kicker ran under 5.0.

It's obvious to everyone that he was taking about Quinn, who took his own shot at Tebow a months ago in a GQ article.

The quotes were published by Gator Zone on Monday, although the story has since disappeared from the site.

Why? Nobody knows.

Chalk another one up to the power of Tim Tebow, perhaps?

Tebow, Tebow, Tebow - WAVY-TV

Updated: Monday, 25 Jun 2012, 11:58 PM EDT
Published : Monday, 25 Jun 2012, 11:58 PM EDT

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Wavy.com) - Even thought he's not in New York or Los Angeles,  he really can't escape the mania that follows his name. That's right Tim Tebow was in Williamsburg Monday afternoon.  The man that so many of you have seen time and time again in orange and blue, looked pretty good today in the William & Mary green out at Zable Stadium.

Afterall, it is the color he'll be wearing next season for the New York Jets. Tebow is just one of three big time athletes helping out at Tribe Head Coach Jimmye Laycocke's All-Pro Camp.  The quarterback didn't show up at camp until the afternoon and you could definitely tell. I can assure you these girls all dressed up on the sidelines watching weren't at camp to critique their little brother's game. If you ladies are  wondering he is single - he tweeted about it today.  But the kids at camp didn't care about that, they were their to catch passes from the man who is certainly a role model.

"I just try to tell them to work toward their goals, and don't have any regrets," said Tebow who gave inspiring speeches to every group on the field. He even took the time to give every kid a high five.

As for Tebow's status as an NFL quarterback. He admitted on Monday he has done some special teams work with the Jets.  He also has been working out in L.A. when he can, he seems to keep a pretty busy schedule.
When asked the question, "Where is home?"  He didn't have an answer.

"I just want to do the best I can in whatever role I have and I think having a competition at quarterback is healthy," Tebow said when asked about what he will be doing for the Jets.

Tebow flourishes as the NFL's 'good guy' - Daily Press

WILLIAMSBURG â€"â€"

New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow is no stranger to the spotlight, though serving as a guest instructor at William and Mary's Colonial All-Pro Camp Monday, Tebow was suddenly very nervous.

Leading a passing drill at the camp, Tebow encountered Sepp Schirey, a 12-year-old from Hanover County, near Richmond, who was on forearm crutches because of Cerebral Palsy.

"At first, I didn't know what to do because he was running to go catch a pass, and I was so nervous," Tebow said. "I was just like, 'put it perfectly in his chest,' so the first one, we weren't able to complete it."

Sepp fell trying to catch Tebow's pass, and after Tebow ran to help him up, he was able to complete his next pass to Sepp. After all the kids in the group completed the drill, Tebow approached Sepp, pulling him into a hug.

Hunter Schirey, Sepp's dad and a volunteer coach at the camp, was watching off to the side. Four and a half years prior, it had been a tough decision for Schirey and his wife to let Sepp play tackle football, though now it's normal for him despite the Cerebral Palsy.

Daily Press Eyewitness: Submit photos and videos from your mobile device. Your picture could be featured on Page 2 of the Daily Press.

Watching Tebow interact with Sepp, Schirey thought the same thing that Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, a fellow instructor at the camp, had said hours earlier at the camp.

"If you're not a fan of Tim Tebow, something's wrong with you," Fitzgerald said. "He does things the right way. If you spend any time with the guy, he's a kid that parents would want their kid to be like. He's the kind of guy that you want your daughter to marry. We need more people like him, not just athletes."

Being the National Football League's "good guy" is a role that Tebow has sought after since he acquired the platform to impact others as a professional athlete. Reflecting on how kids chanted his name Monday, Tebow said it's a goal of his to be a role model that does things the right way, though he said he's far from perfect.

As Sepp began to run the relay drill, Tebow said he wanted to carry him, run the relay, then bring him back, but the coaches told him to just stand back and watch. As Sepp was running, Tebow encouraged him, yelling for him to "go, go, go," before Sepp fell 5 yards from the finish line.

"I was like, oh no," Tebow said. "At first, I thought he fell because I told him to 'go, go, go,' then I tried to help him up. He finished and he was just the sweetest kid. He looked at me, goes, 'thank you so much for helping me.' I'm like, are you kidding me? I didn't do anything."

After winning six of his first seven starts last season with the Denver Broncos, Tebow was traded to the Jets following Denver's signing of quarterback Peyton Manning. As a Jet, he's been practicing as the backup to quarterback Mark Sanchez and he's taken snaps as a blocker in the punt formation.

He said that going from being the Heisman Trophy winner and two-time national champion at Florida to now being a backup with the Jets was not a hard transition, as it's about the mentality of wanting Sanchez to get better, so the competition pushes Tebow to get better.

Speaking to the kids at the camp after the drills, Tebow told them to believe in themselves and to work hard for their dreams, even if others doubt. With the spotlight always on him, even as a backup quarterback, blocking out the attention is the new normal for Tebow.

"It's not always easy," Tebow said. "The easy part is not watching certain channels, certain TV shows, reading the internet, but the way it kind of gets you is it affects your family and friends. Then they'll want to talk about it and it's just like, guys, let's just go watch this movie or something. You just try to be normal."

Conservative Broncos fans still prefer Tim Tebow - NFL News

Denver Broncos fans loved Tim Tebow, but they aren't blind. Most of them know that Peyton Manning is a big upgrade at quarterback.

According to a public policy poll taken in Colorado, 53% of voters in the state prefer Manning to Tebow, who only got 26% to support him. But the numbers flipped when the question was asked of the most conservative voters.

Fifty-three percent of the respondents that called themselves "very conservative" and admired Tebow's religious views would have preferred that Tebow stay at quarterback, while only 28% of those Coloradans are happy Manning is aboard.

You could actually make a football-based argument for Tebow. It would begin and end with Manning's health risk in the wake of multiple neck surgeries. We suspect Tebow's diehard supporters simply had faith.

Tim Tebow: E! examines Tebow's 'Wild Rise' - Orlando Sentinel (blog)

Coming soon: “Tim Tebow’s Wild Rise” from E!

If that title raises concern, E! says the 30-minute special explores “his extraordinary success on the football field, coupled with his religious devotion and infectious charm.”

The program about the new New York Jet premieres at 8 p.m. July 2.

The speakers witnessing to Tebow’s gifts and character include close friends, former high school and college football coaches, sports journalists and pop culture experts, E! said.

A sampling of comments from sports journalists:

“I think this whole nice boy Captain America image is the biggest thing going for him. If he didn’t have it, then what would we be talking about?” asks Ryan Brockington, a New York journalist.

“I don’t expect we’re going to see a lot of pictures of Tim Tebow tweeted with his shirt off, dancing drunkenly in clubs,” says Gary Belsky, a columnist for Time.com. “I think he’ll do just fine in New York. Having said that, I think the media will be on 24/7 alert waiting for a Tim Tebow slip up.”

[...] Why Tim Tebow isn't Stripping Down for Jockey [...] - People Magazine

Miley Cyrus Plaid

Tim Tebow is a modest guy, but sometimes, he just wants to talk about his underwear.

On Friday, the New York Jets quarterback and Jockey spokesman emceed “Hot City Cool Down,” a fashion show in Orlando held for 300 guests. While Tebow â€" dressed in a Jockey T-shirt and jeans (sorry, ladies) â€" talked about the brand’s latest styles, male and female underwear models walked the runway.

Relaxing with PEOPLE after the event, Tebow said that he feels more comfortable on the field than on the runway. “I did get a little bit nervous about it,” he said of the runway presentation, “because I cared how the show would turn out. I wanted it to go well, and I didn’t want to let anyone down. I wanted to do a good job.” (Case in point: when a sudden storm caused a second show to be canceled, Tebow hosted an impromptu VIP reception for attendees, posing for pictures and doling out hugs.)

But don’t expect Tebow â€" admittedly a boxer-briefs guy â€" to strip down to his skivvies anytime soon: “For me, it’s not about walking down the runway in just my underwear,” he said, laughing. “I’m really trying to represent Jockey in the right way. They do things with class, and I want to do the same. I just focus on telling people what I like.”

Sipping on an iced coffee, Tebow said that he “can’t wait” for next season, his first with the Jets. “I’m really excited about it,” he said. “I really think the world of my teammates. It’s a great fit. If you really love what you do, you never work a day in your life. And I’m blessed to be in this situation. I try to always remember how blessed I am.”

Tebow, who said he is happily single, admitted he often struggles with keeping focused on what’s important. “It’s really easy to say my priorities are faith, family and football, in that order. But that’s really hard to live, because life gets in the way. And suddenly, instead of spending time with family, you’re off working. So I really have to prioritize everything. I’m still working through that. And I’m passionate about the game of football, but it’s just a game.”

And as usual, Tebow lit up as he talked about his charitable work. “We’re building the Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital in the Philippines,” he said excitedly. “And we’re also building 18 Timmy’s Playrooms (hospital play areas for seriously ill children) â€" 11 in the states, seven in third-world countries. That’s my purpose,” he explained. “I want to find a way to make difference in other peoples’ lives, to give them a better day.”

“Even his opponents sometimes would ask for his autograph.” â€" Craig Howard, Tebow’s High School Football Coach

Tebow’s faith, which he considers his greatest gift, caught some people by surprise and inspired countless others. It began a national conversation.

Tim Tebow Tweaks New York Media for Inaccurate Reports: Fan's Reaction - Yahoo! Sports

New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow handles the media with the skill of a polished politician, but he may be starting to get fed up with inaccurate reports from local outlets like AOL's Patch, which falsely reported that he was spotted eating lunch in Suffolk County, and the NY Post for writing that he would make a great match with Taylor Swift after the two were spotted on a "dinner date."

Tebow recently denied that he has ever been to Northport, where he was reported by Patch to have been scarfing down tacos. He also denied that he was dating Swift, telling E! Online that he's "definitely single."

With so many tabloid-esque articles about Tebow making their way to the front pages of the New York newspapers, the new Jets quarterback seems to finally be taking a stand against the slew of articles about him that have no facts behind them.

"They've been very accurate in their reporting," Tebow sarcastically said of the New York media. "First, I was living in the city. Then I was in Hoboken-and I've never even been to Hoboken. I think I've dated three or four different girls I've never met. But it's been interesting."

Tebow is probably right on the money that New York outlets have been discussing his love life and possibilities of where he'll be moving to, rather than placing the focus on the football field.

I can't knock the media for doing so, as we're coming up on the end of June and there hasn't been much to discuss in the way of football activities.

In all honesty, there is no quarterback controversy brewing. Mark Sanchez will be the New York Jets' starting quarterback on Opening Day against the Buffalo Bills, and Tim Tebow will be the backup.

Tebow will not beat out Sanchez for the starters' role until Sanchez does something to lose it, and that won't come until at least September.

In the meantime, you can expect plenty more gossipy stories about Tebow that would seemingly be more fitting of a Hollywood movie star.

Tebow is a cool cat, and he seemed to just shrug off the inaccurate reporting with his additional comments on the matter. "It's been interesting," he added. "And fun...I just try to be myself and have fun and smile and laugh, but sometimes some of them are taken aback by it. It's like, 'Why aren't you more serious?' Because I like to laugh and have fun. I enjoy my life."

I'm hoping that local media outlets take a little more time to get their reports right and fill them with factual information, rather than just spreading rumors about where he lives or who he's dating without having facts to back it up.

It's hard for me to take sides on this matter, as I can see it from both angles.

The media needs to come up with great stories about the New York Jets when there isn't much to report in the month of June, so they come up with fun, gossipy angles about where the former Denver Broncos standout lives and who his girlfriend may or may not be.

Tebow, on the other hand, has a legitimate gripe when it comes to inaccurate reporting. As an athlete, all you can hope for is that your local media outlets will post factual content.

Does Tebow have a legitimate beef with the New York media? Let me know in the comments.

Tim Tebow Tweaks Notre Dame Football Program and Brady Quinn: Fan's Reaction - Yahoo! Sports

New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow usually just shrugs off verbal jabs and criticisms with the class and precision of a skilled politician, but he apparently hasn't forgotten Brady Quinn's knock on him in Feb. that 'Tebowing' was nothing but a lame attempt at playing up to the cameras.

In an interview that appeared in GQ, Quinn said "If you look at it as a whole, there's a lot of things that just don't seem very humble to me. When I get that opportunity, I'll continue to lead not necessarily by trying to get in front of the camera and praying but by praying with my teammates, you know?"

Ouch. That quote made it sound like Quinn woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day, and he later apologized for it by saying the comments were taken out of context.

But that wasn't even the worst of what he said, as he hinted that Tebow perhaps ended up getting the second-string role due to the crowds in Denver chanting his name, rather than actual football skills.

"Early in the season, there was a game when Kyle (Orton) got hurt and the coaches were calling for me to go in, but Kyle got up and finished the game out," Quinn added. "So I was the second-string guy. Then, a few weeks later, they decided to put Tim in. I felt like the fans had a lot to do with that. Just 'cause they were chanting his name. There was a big calling for him. No, I didn't have any billboards. That would have been nice."

Quinn's remarks were nothing but sour grapes, and it seems like Tebow let it get under his skin a bit.

Tebow shrugged off jabs from his biggest detractors, ranging from CM Punk's rip on him that he's not a champion and Jake Plummer's jab at the fact that he wears religion on his sleeve.

Being that Quinn was a former teammate, his jab at Tebow was taken personally in my view. According to an NFL.com report, Tebow got some revenge on Quinn by tweaking Notre Dame's football program.

"I had a teammate at Denver who played the same position as me and he went to the University of Notre Dame," Tebow told Florida backers at a recent event, in reference to Quinn. "He would brag about his university, how great it was. Most of us in the locker room were like, 'C'mon, we all had opportunities. We chose not to go there.' ... But he talked so much about his university that it became easy. I'd say, 'Your whole team had one guy who ran under a 5.0 40 (yard dash). Our kicker ran under 5.0.' "

Good for Tebow for finally standing up for himself and putting an end to the constant bullying and criticism of his performance.

Quinn's comments were nothing but jealousy of Tebow's rapid fan base, as the former Cleveland Browns quarterback didn't fill in for Orton in Denver simply because Tebow gave the Broncos a better opportunity to win at the time.

Whether you agree with Tebow's assessment of Notre Dame football or not, you have to like his willingness to respond to the haters for once.

Tebow has been so politically correct in the past that fans and media would bash everything from his football skillset to his religion, knowing full well that he wouldn't respond.

That all changed with Tebow's shot at Notre Dame and Quinn, as it appears he's now going to stand up for himself when people try to tear him down.

Tim Tebow on Notre Dame, New York, beating the Jets - NFL News

It's rare to hear Tim Tebow engage in anything remotely resembling trash talk. Which is one reason why we found his comments about his former teammate Brady Quinn and Notre Dame so refreshing.

"I had a teammate at Denver who played the same position as me and he went to the University of Notre Dame," Tebow told Florida backers at an event, via GatorZone.com. "He would brag about his university, how great it was. Most of us in the locker room were like, 'C'mon, we all had opportunities. We chose not to go there.' ... But he talked so much about his university that it became easy. I'd say, 'Your whole team had one guy who ran under a 5.0 40 [yard dash]. Our kicker ran under 5.0.' "

Burn. The quotes didn't appear in GQ or anything, but we'll take it.

And now, for a few other fun nuggets from the session.

On the New York media: "They've been very accurate in their reporting. First, I was living in the city. Then I was in Hoboken -- and I've never even been to Hoboken. I think I've dated three or four different girls I've never met. But it's been interesting. And fun."

On his game-winning drive against the Jets: "I think I had seven carries on the drive, and I take so much pride in being in shape and being one of the best conditioned athletes out there -- but I was fighting for every yard I could possibly get; I was so winded and so tired because it was back-to-back-to-back. We literally called the same play every time. ... It got to the point that when we went back to the huddle I was so out of breath, I'd say, 'Same play,! Same play!' Everybody was like, 'What?' I wasn't going to call a play because I was so out of breath. But we were going right down the field."

"It got to third-and-4 from their 20. Very big play. I'm out of breath, so fatigued. So I get them up to the line, I'm getting ready to do the cadence, getting ready to say, 'Set! Hut!' when I hear whistles and I look over and some Denver fan has jumped down from the stands and starts streaking across the field. Most of the time you pay attention and maybe laugh. I was like, 'Thank you, Lord!' I was able to catch my breath. That was 100 percent divine intervention, right there."

If not for that drive, Tebow probably wouldn't be in New York right now. Perhaps that streaker changed the course of modern NFL history.

Jockey Launches “Hot City Cool Down” with Tim Tebow - Missouri Sports Magazine

OMG PD: Tebowing in Mom's Closet - Patch.com

Each week, Patch combs through the more shocking, surprising and often absurd alleged criminal acts and police-related incidents that unfold throughout New Jersey. Here’s what went on this week for “OMGs from NJ PD.”

Mr. Tebow, I Have the President on the Line for You: Tim Tebow, next time someone tells you President Obama is calling you, keep this story in mind. Hopatcong’s Jason Slater called police with his best Barack Obama impersonation and told them he was the president, requesting to speak to Tim Tebow, he of football kneeling fame. Police showed up at Slater’s mom’s house, where the 28-year-old did the only natural thing: hide in his mom’s closet. Not content to simply let a bad night end quietly, Slater twice threw his summons on the ground after he was released from custodyâ€"prompting an additional littering charge.

Isn’t Cocaine an Appetite Suppressant?: Heavy is the head that wears the wing-eating crown. Five-time Philly Wing Bowl champion Bill “El Wingador” Simmons was arrested this week after police reportedly uncovered $8,000 worth of cocaine in his car. The Woodbury Heights resident allegedly stashed the drugs in a car covered with an El Wingador wrap. It’s unclear if chicken wings are on the jailhouse menu.

Cooperation Isn’t Always the Answer: Many hands make light workâ€"until a Good Samaritan ruins the thieving fun. When a suspect at a Livingston Dunkin’ Donuts tried to make off with a Porsche, an eyewitness blocked his escape. But an accomplice nearby took it upon himself to try to ram the Good Samaritan’s car out of the way. Meanwhile, the first suspect tried again to drive off with the car, snapping the fuel line and his chance of a pricy booty. Livingston Police are on the lookout for the suspects and with a getaway plan like this, we suspect it will only be a matter of time before cops catch these guys.

Staggering Down the Thin Blue Line: Was it lack of a badge or the beer that blew his cover? Hopatcong Police arrested Mohamad Chaudhary afterâ€"beer in handâ€"he shined a flashlight in two women’s eyes and identified himself as an undercover officer investigating burglaries. He picked the wrong target, though, because one of the women pretty much knows the whole Hopatcong force and called police. Chaudhary was slapped with charges and jailed by his “fellow” cops.

Tax Self-Preparation Goes Awry: File this one under “Criminals Making It Easy for Cops.” Collaring the suspect in a home break-in proved fairly simple after Williamstown’s Dwayne M. Chorney Jr. left his W-2 tax form behind at the scene of a Monroe burglary. Here’s hoping Chorney had a refund coming to himâ€"he can use the cash for his legal bills.

Cold Move on a Hot Day: The kiddos at Gloucester Township’s Goddard School had their fun postponed for a day, thanks to the ice water running through thieves’ veins. Someone (probably a few someones) ripped apart the school’s five air conditioners, timing the destruction with the hottest day of the year so far. The school had to send home 90 kids for the day and police are still looking for the suspects.
