Why This Miami Dolphins Fan is Happy Tim Tebow is Not on the Team - Yahoo! Sports

As a huge fan of the Miami Dolphins it almost makes me laugh to go into a store and almost always see a Tim Tebow jersey. While I came to expect it when Tebow was playing college football for the University of Florida Gators, it's somewhat strange to see his popularity still as high as it is in my area.

When Tim Tebow was put on the trading block by the Denver Broncos there was a lot of speculation with my circle of friends that the Dolphins would go after him. I have to admit, I was one of those doing the speculating. Though he ended up with the New York Jets, I'm not sad one bit as I feel that Tim Tebow on the Miami Dolphins wouldn't have been a good thing, other than to ensure sellouts.

Too Much Drama

The Dolphins have a lot of problems to address as it is. I couldn't imagine if they also had to deal with all the fans chanting Tebow's name and demanding he come in the game. Anyone who witnessed the fan's calls for Tebow last season to come in place of the former starting quarterback for the Broncos, Kyle Orton, knows what I mean. In my opinion, that noise would have paled in comparison to the noise the Florida faithful would have made. As a fan of the Dolphins who loathes the Jets by proxy, I'm glad they have to deal with drama and not Miami.

Not Consistent Enough

Now I know that Tim Tebow is a "proven winner" and that he took the Denver Broncos to the playoffs beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round, but I still contend that he is too inconsistent with his game. For example, his career completion percentage is only 47.3%. In contrast, Brady Quinn, who served as his backup, has a career completion percentage of 52.1%.

Now, the critics will say that Tebow also runs the ball, but his main position is quarterback. So, as a quarterback I think he is too inconsistent. While he did win a bunch of games last season as a starter, I think that the defense of the Broncos had something to do with that as well. In some of Tebow's victories, the score was very low or very close with the Broncos winning seven of the games Tebow started by seven points or less.

Still Need Revenge

Any Dolphins fan knows the pain I feel when I talk about the Tim Tebow comeback from last season against the Dolphins. With less than three minutes in regulation the Dolphins were in control of the game 15-0. By the end of regulation the score was tied 15 all and the Broncos then won the game in overtime with Tebow leading the charge. Now, with Tebow on the Jets the Dolphins get a crack at revenge not once, but twice.

Better Off Without

Even though I'm sure there are a lot of Miami Dolphins fans who would have loved to see Tim Tebow wearing a Dolphins jersey I'm personally glad it didn't happen. I think that in order for Tim Tebow to be an effective starter in the NFL a team will have to build their whole offense around him. That's not something that the Dolphins need to be worrying about and in this case I think they are better off without Tim Tebow on the roster.
